Meet Angela
Seattle Metro Birth Doula
Angela’s Approach to Doula Work
Angela had never heard of a doula before becoming pregnant with her first child at the age of 35. Someone suggested she hire one and it turned out to be the best advice! Her doula was invaluable throughout a long, difficult labor. After the birth of her next two children, her fascination with everything birth related only grew. A good friend suggested that Angela herself might be well-suited for doula work because of her calm and empathetic nature. The idea of helping other people pass through that profound threshold into parenthood was intoxicating.
She completed her birth doula training when her youngest was a year old. Soon after, she became a childbirth educator and began teaching online classes. Angela is also a creative individual with a passion for photography; after many of her doula clients asked for photos, she upped her skills and became a certified birth photographer.
Angela hopes to promote birthing people's sense of confidence and emotional well-being going into birth and parenthood. She appreciates that every birth is completely different and special in its own way. She is happy to support laboring people and their partners wherever they choose to birth; in the hospital, at the birth center, or at home. She loves to assist in different comfort measures, provide resources, clarify communication between patient and provider, and most importantly, encourage birthing people to trust in themselves. As a photographer, Angela loves to show the power of birth and capture those first magical moments when a family is born.
