Anne’s Approach to Doula Work
Anne Heaps is a certified Postpartum Doula (Austin Baby Guru), certified Newborn Care Specialist (Newborn Care Solutions), trained Lactation Educator (DONA), Bereavement Doula (BADT), and former career nanny with over 13 years of full-time professional infant and toddler experience. As a postpartum doula, Anne's peers often refer to her as "encyclopedia Anne" due to her vast knowledge of the most up-to-date safety guidelines for all aspects of the postpartum period. Anne is organized, punctual, analytical, laid-back, and has a great sense of humor. Anne supports clients through education, research, problem-solving, and assistance in making informed choices that align with their family's values and goals. Anne strongly believes that what works best for one family, may not work best for another.
Anne’s Background
Anne was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2011, she received her bachelor's degree in theological studies from Chicago's North Park University. After graduation, Anne worked as a full-time infant/toddler nanny in Chicago (2011-2015), Milwaukee (2015-2017), and Austin, TX (2017-2024). In October 2021, Anne began working as a postpartum doula in Austin; her company served over 25 families, including 4 sets of twins, in just over 2 years. In February 2024, Anne moved to Portland to escape the Texas heat and pursue outdoor activities that she enjoyed during her childhood, such as hiking, open-water swimming, and snowboarding. In her free time, Anne enjoys hand-building pottery, playing the ukulele, and watching documentaries.
