Armanthia’s Approach to Doula Work
Armanthia also known as 'Tree Tree'
For Armanthia caring for others is in her blood – her great-grandmother, her grandmother, and several of her aunties were traditional midwives and healers. Her love and passion for birthwork not only honors her ancestors, but it has become a part of who she is and her desire to give back to the world. With pride she has supported her own daughter to also become a postpartum doula!
Armanthia’s own journey of caring for children and families started with her experience birthing and raising her four children. Soon after she became a parent, she was given the wonderful blessing of caring for her sister’s premature twins, and from there, she became inspired to train and certify as a birth and postpartum doula with Cornerstone Doula Training.
Armanthia sees her role as a doula to meet her clients where they are. She enjoys fostering confidence in new parents as they go on this beautiful journey to parenthood.
Armanthia’s Background
Prior to becoming a doula, she worked for over 18 years in hospice and rehabilitation care for geriatric patients. This experience taught her how fulfilling it is to care for others, but also how to appreciate life and everything that comes with it.
When not working, Armanthia enjoys spending time with her husband of 35 years and their 4 adult children, and wonderful grandchildren. She also has two rescue fur babies Winifred who is a husky and Beethoven who is a massive French Mastiff.
Armanthia has a desire to give back to her community and spends her free time volunteering with the Shepherd’s Gate homeless outreach, helping families get back on their feet. As a recent transplant to the Portland metro area, she is excited to serve her community.
