Meet Catheryn
Portland Metro Birth Doula
Catheryn’s Approach to Doula Work
Since she was young, Catheryn has always had a deep admiration for the remarkable power that goes into pregnancy and childbirth. This fascination inspired her to pursue birth work, where she discovered that her skills and passions align beautifully with the role of a doula.
Her goal as an adaptable and nurturing doula is to foster safety, support, and comfort for the birthing person and their family - however that may look for them. She is able to use techniques like massage, positioning, and mindful coping practices to aid in comfort. Catheryn is dedicated to supporting families to be empowered in their choices, while navigating the tenderness and vulnerability that comes with childbirth. Recognizing that each birth is wildly unique, she provides individualized care tailored to each client’s needs, offering guidance and encouragement as they navigate the challenges and joys of labor, birth, and postpartum.
While she is eager to work with all families from different backgrounds, she is especially passionate about working with young families and single parents. She believes in uplifting and empowering her clients, ensuring they feel confident and informed throughout their personal journeys.
Catheryn’s Background
Catheryn graduated from Portland State University in 2020 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Criminal Justice. She went on to work as a support specialist at a psychiatric hospital, where she learned about the complexity of mental health, as well as the value of support and community. This experience provided her with an abundance of tools, such as effective coping skills and mindfulness that she is eager to instill in her doula clients, all with high regard for trauma informed practices. Catheryn completed her doula training in 2022, and went on to participate in Doula Love’s 6 month intensive mentorship. Once completed, she began working as a professional doula in early 2023.
Catheryn has lived in Portland for most of her life, and is currently living in Tigard with her partner and their two pups, Yeti & Junie. When she is not supporting families, her favorite activities include rock climbing, backpacking, doing puzzles, dabbling in a variety of crafts, and going to concerts.
