Ellen’s Approach to Doula Work

Welcoming a new addition to your family is a transformative event.  Ellen believes every birth situation is unique and all expecting families can benefit from having knowledgeable, compassionate, judgment-free support tailored to their specific needs and choices. Ellen’s goal is to empower you and your family to have the best possible experience, regardless of creed, color, culture, gender, sexuality or circumstances.  You are not alone on the journey, no matter the path.

Ellen is a full spectrum doula with experience in spontaneous and assisted vagina births, VBAC, cesareans, advanced maternal age, multiples, LGBTQA+, neurodivergent, plus size, IVF, surrogate/adoption and loss. She has experience in all birth settings. Ellen is a true birth nerd and life-long learner. With all the misinformation that is a part of our connected world, she strives to provide timely, trustworthy information, resources and support.

Ellen’s Background

Ellen’s undergraduate training at OSU was in life science. She has 2 children and 2 stepchildren and supported several friends through their births. After a stint in the corporate technology world, she volunteered for Hospice for three years and then supported family and friends as they navigated the end of life. She returned to birth work in 2018 as part of the Community Doula program.

Nature is Ellen’s happy place. She is an avid gardener, hiker, cyclist and paddler and active in outdoor education.  She believes in giving back and has a long history of volunteerism, non-profit board service and community building. Ellen is dedicated to supporting birth diversity and social and reproductive justice and strives to learn and grow. She appreciates honest feedback because everyone can teach her something and deserves the opportunity to be heard.
