Erin’s Approach to Doula Work
Erin is deeply honored to be invited into this private and intimate moment in your family’s life. The birthing year is filled with love, hope, and dreams of the future. But it can also be a time of uncertainty, anxiety, and massive change. As a birth and postpartum doula Erin strives to support the birthing family through the twists and turns of pregnancy and new parenthood.
Birth is often unpredictable and Erin believes that empowerment comes from remaining in control of the decisions that are presented throughout the process. She is passionate about advocacy. Often helping families make the next best choice for their specific birth. During prenatal appointments, Erin aims to educate families so they can make evidence-based decisions while also encouraging them to follow their intuition.
While intellectually preparing families for the birth experience is extremely important. Birthing requires a level of opening to the unknown and surrendering to the process. Erin focuses on holding a calm and loving space. Erin has an anchoring disposition and is able to focus in busy and hectic environments. While she thrives in providing hands-on support through massage and counter pressure, she knows when to step back to allow for a private moment between partners or deep inner focus within the birthing person.
Erin’s Background
Erin’s passion for birth work flourished when she became pregnant with her son in 2016. Her own doula played a pivotal role in creating an empowering birth experience. Upon completion Erin joined Doula Love’s professional team.
Erin loves incorporating her background a strength coach into her doula work. She is a certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism coach. Erin is knowledgeable in supporting women through the challenges of staying active during pregnancy and coming back to movement during the postpartum period. She knows firsthand the trials of new motherhood and is passionate about supporting women on their road to lifelong athleticism.
Erin lives in Oregon City with her 5-year-old son and dog, Ru. In her free time, she loves hiking the amazing trails of the PNW. She enjoys lifting weights as a competitive powerlifter and dabbles in CrossFit.
