Ernest’s Approach to Doula Work

Ernest is a birth and postpartum doula amongst many other titles he holds in the birth world. He comes with a calm nurturing personality which truly allows him to support families in their time of need. Ernest has always had a love for working with children and families. He has been a Pediatric Medical Assistant for over 10 years and currently works at Seattle Children's Hospital. Ernest believes you cannot work with children without appreciating the opportunity to support their parents and family. His work has affirmed his desire to become a parent some day!

When Ernest decided to become a Doula he finally felt like he was doing the work he was meant to do, it was his calling. Working in a female dominated profession has its challenges and Ernest knew he needed to have a strong knowledge base. This has inspired him to continue his education and become a Childbirth Educator and Lactation Educator. Currently Ernest is working through a mentorship program at Seattles Children's Hospital to become an IBCLC.

Ernest’s Background

Ernest enjoys supporting all birthing people and families. He knows that when you properly support birthing people and families through childbirth and postpartum they will have a much more positive experience. Thus making the start of their parenting journey just a little bit easier ! He has a strong desire to support fathers and birth partners as they navigate this experience and find their place during this incredible time. He also knows that the BIPOC and LGBTQIA2s+ families he supports will benefit from his care, understanding and advocacy.

When Ernest is not working he enjoys singing, listening to music and spending time in nature with his partner and their three dogs! Ernest is the youngest of two children and had a deep connection with his own father. After his father’s passing in 2019 Ernest knew he had to follow his heart.
