Jill’s Approach to Doula Work
Jill has always been passionate about childbirth and the creation of families. In her opinion, an empowering birth experience can greatly shape the course of someone’s life as a parent. Her job as a doula is to hold space for the entire family, enabling the partner or other birth team members to do their best to support the birthing person in the way they need. She is passionate about education and the knowledge that the pregnant body is extremely capable of bringing forth a baby into the world, and how that unfolds looks different for everyone. She supports people in ways that are unique to their desires for birth, and cares for families planning all different kinds of births including home births, birth center births, hospital births, medicated or unmedicated births, vaginal or cesarean births, and inductions. She provides comfort measures such as massage, hot and cold therapy, position changes, reassurance, and physical support as well as emotional support through pregnancy, labor, and beyond. She promises to provide unbiased support in bringing families together to birth the way they desire.
Jill’s Background
Jill and her husband Andy have had three of their own births through which they had incredible support provided to them by their doula. This inspired Jill so much that she wanted to be that voice of encouragement, comfort, and empowerment for other new and experienced parents going forward.
She began 10 years of reading and research before finally deciding it was the time to pursue her dream of being a birth doula. She was trained through Dona International, and constantly continues her education with workshops, and reading everything about birth that she can get her hands on. She is also trained in placenta encapsulation.
Jill’s highest concern is for the birthing family to approach their birth with confidence that they are able to make the right decisions and to have a beautiful experience as they bring their baby into the world.
Jill comes from northern California and has lived in Oregon for 16 years. In her spare time you can find her cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, reading, enjoying board games and puzzles, hiking around our beautiful Pacific Northwest, or going to Disneyland with her family.
