Doula Love 2021-6.jpg

“Birth is such a beautiful and unique time of connecting with your body, your family, and your new baby. As a doula, my job is to help make that transition satisfying and memorable, to help you feel empowered, and to bring a calm environment, a safe space, and knowledgeable support to your experience.”

Jill’s Approach to Doula Work

Jill has always been passionate about childbirth and the creation of families. In her opinion, an empowering birth experience can greatly shape the course of someone’s life as a parent. Her job as a doula is to hold space for the entire family, enabling the partner or other birth team members to do their best to support the birthing person in the way they need. She is passionate about education and the knowledge that the pregnant body is extremely capable of bringing forth a baby into the world, and how that unfolds looks different for everyone. She supports people in ways that are unique to their desires for birth, and cares for families planning all different kinds of births including home births, birth center births, hospital births, medicated or unmedicated births, vaginal or cesarean births, and inductions. She provides comfort measures such as massage, hot and cold therapy, position changes, reassurance, and physical support as well as emotional support through pregnancy, labor, and beyond. She promises to provide unbiased support in bringing families together to birth the way they desire.

Jill’s Background

Jill and her husband Andy have had three of their own births through which they had incredible support provided to them by their doula. This inspired Jill so much that she wanted to be that voice of encouragement, comfort, and empowerment for other new and experienced parents going forward.

She began 10 years of reading and research before finally deciding it was the time to pursue her dream of being a birth doula. She was trained through Dona International, and constantly continues her education with workshops, and reading everything about birth that she can get her hands on. She is also trained in placenta encapsulation.

Jill’s highest concern is for the birthing family to approach their birth with confidence that they are able to make the right decisions and to have a beautiful experience as they bring their baby into the world.

Jill comes from northern California and has lived in Oregon for 16 years. In her spare time you can find her cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, reading, enjoying board games and puzzles, hiking around our beautiful Pacific Northwest, or going to Disneyland with her family.

Testimonials

  • “Jill was such an amazing doula! How I wish I had her at my previous births. This was my 4th baby but my 1st having a doula. That was definitely my easiest labor, with all the support she gave I could relax and focus and what a difference she made! She is calm and cheerful. Very supportive, helpful and down to earth. I highly recommend her and won't hesitate to call her if we have any more little blessings! Thank you Jill!”

  • "As I prepared to give birth to my first child earlier this year, I knew I wanted the support of a  doula to guide me through this challenging and transformative experience. I turned to Jill because I was so inspired by her perspective and the depth of her knowledge about the entire birth process. Jill is one of the most compassionate, respectful, and kind people you will meet.  She was also able to assertively advocate for me during my birth and empower me to continue with my labor goals despite unexpected complications. Her biggest gift to me was her calming and incredibly patient presence during my entire labor and delivery. My labor was complicated by an acute illness which left me feeling very weak, and Jill physically helped me into the most comfortable position during each and every contraction for over twelve hours. Knowing she was there by my side helped me to relax and follow the lead of my body to bring my baby into this world. She carefully observed what was working for me and helped my husband support me in ways that were truly comforting. The birth of my son turned out to be one of the most  thrilling and wonderful experiences of my life, and that was due in large part to Jill’s skilled,  personal, and dedicated support."
