Rosemary’s Approach to Doula Work

Rosemary’s goal as a doula is for her clients to have a satisfying birth and postpartum experience, as they define it. She supports parents’ autonomy in making informed decisions regarding their pregnancy, birth and newborn care. She aims to provide nonjudgmental, evidence-based support to families prenatally, during labor and into a nourished postpartum.

At your prenatal appointments, Rosemary will engage you and your support team in discussions about your birth options, clarify your preferences, and review anything that can help tailor her support while building trust. She is skilled at formulating a postpartum plan and takes great pleasure in preparing clients for success in breastfeeding and newborn sleep. As your due date draws nearer, she will be available to answer any questions that arise and is well-regarded for her encouraging pep talks during late pregnancy. Rosemary supports births in all environments and has an outstanding reputation among hospital, birth center, and home birth providers. 

Rosemary’s Background

Rosemary considers providing support to pregnant and newborn families to be an incredible honor and she approaches her work with wisdom and humility. Her path to birthwork began at a young age and was part of her upbringing. After having children of her own, she spent several years as a student midwife, serving families birthing at home and in a birth center. In 2020 Rosemary became certified as a THW Doula and a Lactation Education Specialist. She is trained as a full spectrum doula, and has experience with VBAC, loss, IVF, termination, and multiples. She has extensive training in trauma-informed care, perinatal mental health, navigating birth interventions, lactation support, newborn behaviors, baby carrying, and postpartum nutrition.

In her leisure hours, she enjoys reading, camping, and spending time with friends. Her family includes her partner, five children, two grandchildren, a large dog, and two cats.
