Central Willamette Birth and Postpartum Doula

Tessa’s Approach to Doula Work

Tessa thrives on the diversity of life and carefully tailors her care for each family throughout their birth and postpartum experiences, respecting the unique qualities of every individual. She believes that authentic support starts with open and honest conversations, enabling her to fully understand what feels most beneficial for you and your particular situation.

Her approach focuses on fostering bonding and intimacy within the family dynamic. Rather than replacing or overshadowing existing support, she aims to gently enhance it. Tessa amplifies the voices of birthers, ensuring they are heard, and trusts their experiences to guide the decision-making process.

Tessa is passionate about empowering partners and supporting individuals, helping them feel included, confident, and well-prepared to care for their loved ones. Recognizing that birth spaces often reflect the energy within them, Tessa contributes a calm and steady presence through mindful breathing, intentional movement, and consent-based touch. Tessa is committed to accompanying families throughout the entire journey—from conception and pregnancy to birth and the tender days that follow. She stands by your side, meeting each moment with care, compassion, and unwavering commitment.

Tessa’s Background

Tessa's passion for childbirth began at an early age, inspired by her mother, Bettina, who worked as a doula. She spent countless hours soaking in stories of midwives and births shared around the family dinner table. Tessa has completed a comprehensive year-long postpartum training and a six-month physiological baby care course with Innate Traditions, along with a year-long childbirth education program through Wapio and the Matrona Foundation. Additionally, she has undergone a two-month Wombs of the World birthworker training and a foundational workshop with Doula Love.

Tessa is deeply dedicated to lifelong learning, continuously educating herself on human rights, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices to ensure her approach is both compassionate and grounded. Her experience spans home births, birth centers, and hospital settings, where she supports families through both planned and unplanned cesarean births, as well as pregnancy loss and release.

In her leisure time, Tessa loves to tend to her garden. She also enjoys surfing and hiking alongside her partner, soon-to-be husband Gabriel, and their Rottweiler pup, Nava.
