Tianna’s Approach to Doula Work
Tianna’s warm energy and natural ability to nurture brings comfort to those around her. Because the journey of pregnancy and birth is a vulnerable time, Tianna feels fortunate to be invited to every birth she witnesses. As a doula, Tianna's intention is to foster a safe and comforting environment for birthing people. She aims to keep her clients well-informed by being a non-judgmental source of knowledge and providing resources as needed. Tianna has a strong background in education, and continues to seek learning opportunities for herself in order to best serve her clients. She looks forward to holding space for partners and other birth team members to support the birthing person with guidance from her as needed. Birthing a child is both empowering and exhausting. Tianna can provide comfort measures such as massage, hot and cold therapy, suggesting position changes, and physical support throughout the labor process. As a mama whose first birth experience felt less than ideal, Tianna wants to reassure her clients that she is there to make sure they feel confident with their choices and know that she will advocate for their unique birth needs and preferences.
Tianna’s Background
Tianna and her husband, Royce, have welcomed two wonderful children into the world–one with the help of a Doula Love doula. As the nurturing person she is, Tianna took on the role of a labor support person for several of her family and friends’ births before deciding to become a trained doula.
Tianna is a first-generation Syrian-American and the first person in her family to graduate from college. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science and a Masters in Education. She enjoys teaching high school Language Arts online because she believes literature allows us a window into other people’s experiences, and that reading can be a powerful tool for building empathy if we let it.
In her spare time, Tianna enjoys hanging out in nature with her family and her dog, Ladybird. She loves paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, singing, writing, and reading. She also enjoys relaxing by watching bad television or movies while eating popcorn and chocolate.
