Meet Chinelo
Chinelo Metro Birth and Postpartum Doula
Chinelo’s Approach to Doula Work
Chinelo's path to becoming a doula began with her own childbirth experiences. At just 17 years old, she welcomed her eldest child and encountered the inequalities that can arise in maternal care, particularly as a young mother of color. She faced biases related to her age and race, endured serious complications, and survived a severe postpartum hemorrhage that required a week-long hospitalization. Her second birth presented its own set of challenges, and by the time she was expecting her third, Chinelo was determined to seek a different experience. Hiring a doula transformed her journey; for the first time, she felt informed, supported, and truly acknowledged. This pivotal experience ignited a passion within her to ensure that families not only survive pregnancy and birth but thrive throughout the process.
Chinelo provides evidence-based informational, physical, and emotional support, fostering deep connections with the families she serves. From prenatal preparation and labor assistance to postpartum care, she stands by families at every stage of the perinatal journey. Her philosophy is clear: every family deserves to feel safe, heard, respected, and empowered, regardless of how their birth unfolds. Chinelo guides families through every twist and turn, involving their chosen support network to build a solid foundation that lasts well beyond the birth experience.
One of the most treasured compliments Chinelo receives is when clients express that she feels like a supportive family member in the room—bringing warmth, advocacy, and extensive knowledge of perinatal care without the stress or pressure that can sometimes accompany relatives. Her greatest honor lies in helping families feel profoundly loved, fully seen, and gently supported during some of the most delicate moments of their lives. Supporting families is not merely her profession; it is her true calling.
